Noughtie: Best Music Videos - Part 3

If you missed Part 1, click here.
If you missed Part 2, click here.

Hallo, welcome to Part 3 of 4, counting down what I think the best 20 music videos of the last decade were. No more talk, here's #10 to #6!

10. "Knights of Cydonia" - Muse (2006)

I heard this song before the video was released, but I'm telling you, if you imagined what the video should be like when listening to the song, you'd imagine something close to this. It's such an overdramatic video, but it's brilliant. There's many references to Star Wars amongst this sci-fi/western mashup. The video is just fantastic, you really just have to see it if you haven't before.

9. "Hurt" - Johnny Cash (2003)

I just watched this video yet again whilst writing this. It's just one of the most emotional things ever to be recorded on camera. It's one of the rare songs that give you goosebumps any time you hear it. The struggle that Johnny Cash goes through to sing the song, you can hear it in every note, yet every note is still sung perfectly. He is a one in a million, fuck that, one in a billion. As huge a Nine Inch Nails fan I am, Cash owns this song. It was one of the last of many gifts he gave to us, us lucky people. Rest in Peace, Johnny Cash.

8. "Leave Before the Lights Come On" - Arctic Monkeys (2006)

I'm serious when I say this, if you haven't seen this video, please do. It's a fantastic video, with a brilliant story to it. I don't really want to say what it's about as it will ruin it for you. So... I'm going to leave it at that. If you have seen it, can I ask, why was this song a bit of a flop? It's a decent little song by Arctic Monkeys, and the video was brilliant, obviously. It's a shame as less good songs and videos got the band bigger hits. Hey ho.

7. "Starfuckers, Inc" - Nine Inch Nails (2000)

Haha, if you know the history between Marilyn Manson and Trent Reznor, then you know exactly why this video is fucking badass. Okay, history lesson to those who don't know!
Trent Reznor, lead singer of NIN, produced and helped Marilyn Manson get the level of fame he got to. However after producing the second album, their friendship fell apart. They criticised each other in the press all the time and spread a lot of crap about each other. Then, in 1999, Trent released The Fragile, which had this song (the single came out in 2000) on it, a direct attack at all the celebrities he has been aquainted with that piss him off. That was Manson primarily, but also Courtney Love (Hole), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit) and a few more.
He then released this video to go with that track. Enough history, now watch the video to find out why it's so great.

6. "Tribute" - Tenacious D (2001)

What? Have you lived under a rock or something? If you haven't seen this video you should be ashamed of yourself. It's a modern day classic music video, and will be remembered as one of the highlights of the decade for music videos. It was so good it was the most requested video on Kerrang! TV history at one point, although I don't know if the record still stands. It's just a funny video for a brilliant song.

Part four is found here.

Here we go, Part 3 is done. Are you feeling the heat? We're approaching what I think the five best videos of the decade are. Obviously this is a biased listing to some degree, but you will like at least one of the videos in this 20 right? Do you agree with the order? Is there any video you have not seen and now you have? Comment below if you feel the need to. Tomorrow will be the finale of this fantastic part of the Noughtie series. See you then, I hope!
