#25 - Street Fighter EX2 Plus
Released: 1999
Genre: Fighting
Rating: ****1/4 stars
Best Moment: Getting your ass handed to you by Bison II - he's nearly indestructible!
Street Fighter isn't my natural fighting game but it's one that I have played over the years. I do prefer Tekken and even Mortal Kombat, but the SF games are tremendous too. I never did play Street Fighter 3, instead I played Street Fighter EX2 Plus. It's a spinoff of the main SF games and for some reason I just loved playing this. I loved playing as Sagat, he was always my go-to character, where as back in the original Street Fighter II days I was always Ryu. I love the Super Combos you can do in the SFEX2+ game, and for me that's what makes this game stand out well against the many, MANY other SF games. But also, going against the secret Bison II boss is an awesome moment, even if it's ridiculously hard to even give him a good fight, nevermind actually beating him! Apparently you can unlock him in SFEX3, although I never did play that entry in the series. Anyway, if you're looking for a good Street Fighter game on the original Playstation, in my opinion, this is the best.

My Top 50 Favourite Playstation 1 Games: #35

If you missed #36 click here.

#35 - Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Released: 1999
Genre: Action
Rating: **** stars
Best Moment: Just... the art design. It's out of this world. A remaster of this game would be just so exquisite!
Soul Reaver is just one of those games that... if you've ever had a PS1 you need to have played this game. It's as simple as that. Some rate it as one of the best games of all time, certainly one of the best games on the console. For me, it's not quite as good as that, because, well, for one, I found the difficulty to be a bit much, but then again perhaps because I was a lot younger then that might be why, because I've not played this game in a long long time. It also was complicated in terms of knowing what to do next and how to progress forward.

But, the negatives aside, this game, artistically is simply stunning. I remember the beginning video like it came out yesterday, and boy, it's one of my favourite intros in any video game ever. The game's design is just brilliant, I love the gothic themes, the darkness, the vampires, the way Raziel looks, the way you absort souls, just everything aesthetically is just gorgeous. It truly is one of the PS1 games that thoroughly deserves a remaster, and if one ever did happen, I'd certainly play it again, that's for sure.
